When I was young
I wrote this song in a field. My horse was sick, and I had to walk him around in a circle to keep him moving. The sound of his gate set up the beat in my head, and the words began to flow.
Being in the field with my horse got me thinking about my childhood. Animals had always helped me cope in a family being torn apart my alcoholism and divorce.
In that field the Lord was speaking to me, showing me how He had always been there, before I knew Him. That day, I knew He knew everything about me (Psalm 139).
Once my horse was feeling better, I went to the house, grabbed my guitar and found the chords to match melody ... and New Song was written. :)

Inside Story
Ultimate Intimacy
Inside Story is a song I wrote as a very young Christian. Accepting Christ is an "inside story". The born-again experience is the ultimate of intimate moments, and think about it, we are so "new" we can't know the depth, width, or height of it. Until we stand face to face with Jesus, we will never fully understand this kind of intimacy.
This song is prophetic. In hindsight I can see where God was preparing me for the inevitable and still today, the enemy breaths down my neck, the Holy Spirit whispers in my ear and sometimes I listen and sometimes I don't. What has changed for me in the last few years is that I read the Bible every day, (a miracle in itself), and I talk to Jesus a lot. It revives my spirit when I converse with the Holy Spirit.
This song says you will be beaten, bones broken, persecuted and lied to. After all, we are in the world, but His love will never hurt us. We always have a choice to turn (repent) from our earthly desires and change our minds.

A few things were an influence in writing Heavens Way, a lyric in a popular song by Howie Day saying stars could refuse to shine, uh, no they can't!
Another thing that was in my head at the time was the concern people have about the happenings in the world; Christians forgetting (I guess) that Jesus has won the war of good and evil on the cross. It's all laid out in His word.
Most importantly, is, that if you have not put your faith in Jesus, know that He is real, and that He once walked the earth for YOU and took on humanity's sin to save us all from satan's hold. Jesus Christ's love surpasses all other love, He won't force you to let Him in, He is waiting.
"Honey don't you worry if you don't get what I'm sayin, get on your knees and start speakin and prayin. Ask Him to show you His love for you NOW, repent of your sins, say it out loud! Who's gonna hear ya sept the One Who's beside you, there is nothing to fear with His Spirit to guide You!"

This song was written in 2024. It's about a woman that won't give up control of her life. The 100% self-sufficient person who believes in Jesus, knows and uses Scripture, however, will not give herself, completely TO Jesus. Do you know anyone like that? Well, the song ends up with this gal accepting Christ ... the angels begin to party, because this one won't be left behind. I love that, I hope that this song is prophetic for my sweet friend's soul!
