I Wrote it in a Song

Last fall I found a church with pastors who teach through the Bible, book by book, verse by verse. It is called expository teaching. What is expository preaching? GotQuestions.org😊

I sometimes wonder, and ask God, why now? Why did it take so long to FINALLY want and seek out the way to an intimate relationship with You? Maybe I just wasn’t ready … but that sounds like justification for resistance in the name of laziness, blinding pride, and idol clinging (my term, I just made that up).

The song,  “I Wrote it in a Song” very first line is “why do I resist You so?” It talks about my life as a drunk “I thought the bottle was my friend” and God’s word being the only thing that really matters. It talks about how our feelings are to feel but not to live our lives by “it doesn’t really matter how I feel because You always tell the truth, and the truth is real”.

The theme of I Wrote it in a Song is taken from another I wrote years back (hence the title) called, Changing My Direction, which speaks about putting faith and trust in Jesus Christ, repentance and asking God to bring us closer to His way of thinking. Both songs were spoken to me by the Holy Spirit Himself. There is no way I could have written them so quickly and then to have them minister to my heart many years later? Very cool indeed! 😊

How about you? Do you struggle with getting closer to God? Do you resist the way to a deeper relationship with Him? Find a trusted expository Bible man, it WILL change your life. Enjoy the video, hats off to my Heaven’s friend, the late John Lafollette playing lead guitar in this video.  Check out Calvary Church of Greater Portland, or Calvary Church Bangor, you will find the Good Word exposed in these teachings.

Have a great week! L

Why do I resist You so? You prove to be wise when it all unfolds.

I have hard time, I've been told. I've been told by You.

Truth be told, I always have a hard time!

But I'm changing my direction, I wrote it in a song.

I'm looking for a new way.

What took my heart so long?

It used to be an attraction, the "bad man" appeal.

All caught up in the reaction of how I used to feel.

The bottle was my friend, I'd been told.

But since You I know that it ain't true!

But I'm changing my direction, I wrote it in a song.

I'm looking for a new way.

What took my heart so long?

Oh, yeah, what took my heart so long?

It doesn't really matter how I feel,

cause You always tell the truth and the truth is real.

there is one thing that I know

and that ... oh, I just don't know!

But I'm changing my direction, I wrote it in a song.

I'm looking for a new way.

What took my heart so long? Oh I'm changing!

But I'm changing my direction, I wrote it in a song.

I'm looking for a new way.

What took my heart so, oh well now,

what took me so long, took me so long?

Oh, what took me so long!

Changing, my direction!
